Tools and Equipment
One of the advantages of joining Western Woodworkers is access to a well-equipped workshop.

A workshop for a wide range of woodworking projects
Many people have ideas for projects but do not have the space, machinery, or setup to complete them safely at home. The club gives members a place to work on their own projects with access to both hand tools and machinery.
Members work on wood turning, box making, furniture pieces, carving, repairs, tool making, and other practical or creative projects with timber.
Equipment available at the club
Visitors are welcome to come along on a club day, meet members, inspect the equipment, and watch the workshop in use. For insurance reasons, visitors cannot do woodworking during a first visit.
If you are interested in joining, visiting is the best way to see whether the equipment and club environment suit the kind of work you would like to do.
Bringing your own projects
Members bring their own project materials to the club.
If you already know what you want to make, bring the timber and materials you need. If you are still working that out, other members may be able to help you think through the tools, materials, and approach your project might require.
Members are encouraged to bring their own PPE and consumables where possible, although some are available at the club.
Machinery certification and safety
The workshop is friendly and supportive, but machinery needs to be used safely.
Members must be certified before using machinery independently. Certification happens on an as-needed basis, depending on what equipment you need to use and what project you are working on.
Health and safety is a priority at Western Woodworkers. Dust extraction and safety equipment are part of the workshop setup, and members are expected to work responsibly.
