Furniture Making, Repairs and Practical Timber Projects
Some woodworking starts with a very practical thought: a shelf that would fit a certain space, a small table, a repair, a useful household item, or a piece of furniture that would mean more if you made it yourself.
Western Woodworkers members work on some furniture making, repairs and practical timber projects, as well as woodturning, boxes, carving and other personal work.
A workshop for practical making
The club workshop includes hand tools and machinery that support cutting, shaping, preparing, sanding, joining and finishing timber. Members bring their own materials and work on their own projects.
The club does not offer formal furniture-making courses. Instead, members can draw on the experience of other woodworkers, ask questions and learn informally while working on their own pieces.
Safety and project planning
Machinery use requires certification before independent use. That matters for practical projects because safe use of saws, sanding equipment, planers and other machinery is part of good work.
